Australia is a continent that is visited for both business and leisure by all kinds of travellers. It is known for its deep rainforests, rugged bush and the endless Outback, incredible beaches, and cosmopolitan cities.

Its most significant tourist and business cities are Brisbane, Sydney, Perth, and Melbourne.

Although Australia and its surrounding islands is the smallest continent globally, it is still roughly about the size of the United States, which provides for a huge range of tourism activities within its borders.

The densest areas of population are found on the South and eastern coastlines, while other coastlines present a plethora of natural wonders such as the Great Barrier Reef along the Northeast coast.

The climate of Australia varies depending on area with the northern part of the country tropical and hot while the south is more temperate. The northern coast line of the country experiences the most rainfall with temperatures that are never lower than 15C. However, southern regions experience freezing temps during the winter with plenty of Snowy Mountain capped ranges.

Due to the wide range of temps it is best to visit Southern areas of Australia during the summer and the Northern areas during the winter, although both experience tourist activity year round.

Some of the most famous landmark locations in Australia are the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The Uluru red centre, Great Barrier Reef, Gold Coast, Northern Territory, and Kakadu National Park are also prime tourism areas for those looking to experience the natural scenery of this land.

One of the most popular tourist activities is swimming in the lakes, rivers, and on the beaches of Australia. Scuba diving and snorkelling are also popular activities especially along the Great Barrier Reef, near the Byron Bay rocks, or in Bundaberg.
If you choose to stay in a resort hotel chances are you will also be able to partake in rock climbing, mountain biking along the Canberra hills, or play a round of golf on the world class famous courses of Australia.

During the winter time skiing is also a popular sport in Australia, in particularly in the regions of Victoria and New South Wales where ski hotels and resort villas are prevalent.

Those who are looking for exciting nightlife will want to book hotels and accommodations near the city’s of Cairns and Melbourne where clubs and pubs abound. Additionally, the area of Melbourne offers a booming casino culture, with the famous Crown Casino found in the Southbank area of Melbourne.

Visitors who stay in a larger metropolitan area will find that public transportation options are plentiful, from subways to taxi cab hire. However, those who want to explore the country on their own or plan to stay in a smaller resort area will want to consider hiring a car.

Daily costs to explore Australia are reasonable with many National Parks offering free admission or per car admission of about ten pounds. Art galleries and other historical sites are generally free, with museums charging about ten pounds a person and major theme parks charging seventy pounds per person.
